With the aim of stimulating the exercise of literary creation as a form of reflection and dialogue, the Editorial Fund of Comfenalco Antioquia launches its first Biennial Writing Contest for Teachers and Students primary and secondary school of the department.
Those interested may participate with their stories, whether they are works of fiction such as stories and poems, or narratives of literary journalism, testimonial, biographical or autobiographical narrative.
Leidy Johana Galvis Mejía, leader of Library Services at Comfenalco Antioquia, explains that, in each edition, the biennial will address a different theme and this time it will be the territory as a concept, idea, place and creative pretext.
“From La Caja we proposed with the Writing Biennial to generate conversations about what the territory is and what it is made of, how that place we live belongs to us, what surprises us about the streets of the neighborhoods and paths, the houses or the fields. of the municipalities of our territory and the importance of sharing the stories of the different subregions of the department”stated the leader.
There is a deadline to compete with the stories until July 31which may not exceed 500 words and must be sent digitally to the email [email protected].
You can participate with a single writing that is identified with the author’s name, identification document number, municipality, name of the educational institution, and both students and teachers must indicate which grade they belong to. Works that exceed the established number of words or are signed with a pseudonym will be disqualified.
A group of three independent juries will choose the four winners, who will be announced and awarded in September during the Medellín Book and Culture Festival 2024.
Within the criteria to select the winning works, the creativity of the writings, the innovative points of view and the personal views that give rise to observing one’s own territory with new eyes, far from stigmas and common places, will be taken into account; Likewise, good writing, readability and spelling will be taken into account.
The Editorial Fund of Comfenalco Antioquia will award one million pesos to the first two stories by a teacher and a student, and will also award two prizes of 500 thousand pesos to those who take second place.
As an additional stimulus, the jury will choose the outstanding stories that were submitted to the call, which will be part, along with the winners, of an anthology that will demonstrate the way in which teachers and students from the regions of Antioquia view their own territories. .
This book will be published under the seal of the Editorial Fund and will be distributed in the different institutions of the region, so that the winners are recognized and read in many parts of the department and to stimulate participation in future editions of the Biennial Competition of Writing for Teachers and Students of Antioquia.
