Winter Wave affects tourism in Casanare » PRENSA LIBRE CASANARE

The tourism sector in Casanare is seriously affected by the winter, the owner of the La Fortuna Natural Reserve, Luz Edith Roldán, indicated that the overflow of the Cravo Sur River flooded the hotel and they had to close temporarily to make location arrangements, she said that this end of the week they already paid attention.

The flood not only caused material damage, such as the loss of decorations and objects in the hotel, but also forced the temporary closure which resulted in significant economic losses.

Roldán pointed out that, in the town of Quebrada Seca, several houses located on the banks of the Cravo Sur River were also affected, forcing residents to evacuate in the middle of the night.

Tour operators are seeking the support of the departmental and municipal governments to mitigate the effects of the winter wave. Today a meeting will be held with representatives of the sector and local authorities to quantify the damage and define an action plan. The priority is to attract tourists again and strengthen the region’s tourism products, ensuring the recovery and growth of the sector in Casanare.
