In the resolution signed last Wednesday, it is stated that the appointment comes thanks to the fact that Santa Marta met the criteria established in Resolution No. 25 of 2019 of the Board of Directors of the Andean Parliament.

The vice president of the entity, Óscar Sánchez, together with the Secretary General, Eduardo Chiliquinga Mazón and Pablo Vera, rector of the University of Magdalena, were in charge of announcing the appointment to the territorial entities of the city.

Likewise, the document requests information from the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), as well as the Ministries of Culture and Education of the Andean region, the National Academies of History, the General Secretariat of the Andean Community (CAN), the foreign ministers of the member countries and the respective national institutions of the Member States of the Parliament, responsible for managing and protecting the heritage of these countries.
