A trip to the past: The history of Altos Hornos de Zapla
Built in the 1940s, the mining-forestry-steel complex of Altos Hornos de Zapla was established as one of the largest iron factories in South America. During its heyday, this industrial colossus housed around 600 people, who lived and worked in an environment marked by the bustle of steel and mining.
However, over the years and economic changes, the complex began to decline, reducing its staff until it was finally privatized.
