These are acts of retaliation, terrorist acts, because they cannot confront the Army or the Police, and they are terrorist acts that generate uncertainty, anxiety and fear in the community, and we cannot allow fear to subside. take over us,” expressed the governor of Valle, Dilian Francisca Toro, while together with the mayor of Cali, Alejandro Eder, and the mayor of Jamundí, Paola Castillo, they rejected the terrorist act in the Valle del Cauca municipality.

The president took the opportunity to express to the Minister of Defense, Iván Velásquez, who connected virtually, that despite the support received, “he has not supported us forcefully to confront this crime.”

“The minister understood and we made several requests: the first is to increase the strength of both the Army and the Police, and that was accepted. 100 more police officers are going to arrive in Jamundí. The Army will be accompanying the Police in the urban area, and will also be present there supporting the safety of the people of Jamundeño. Second, they increase our flight hours, which we have requested so much from the FAC (Colombian Air Force), so that they can also provide support to the Army and the Police. Third, the minister is going to speak with Family Welfare, because there is a lot of recruitment in Jamundí, and we need to protect our boys and girls from the recruitment that the FARC dissidents are doing there,” the president detailed about the main conclusions. of Council.

He also announced that he will work jointly with the mayor of Jamundí to improve the road to Villacolombia, Jamundí district, and will have support from the Army.

Likewise, the Minister of Defense was asked that Jamundí be included in the Zomac zone, which includes a group of municipalities most affected by the conflict.

Meanwhile, Minister Velásquez warned that if with this type of attacks the EMC seeks to pressure the Government to renew suspensions of offensive operations and the ceasefire, “we emphatically state that this is not going to happen. The ceasefire in the southwest will remain suspended, there is no specific situation in this region of the country conducive to even thinking about possibilities of a ceasefire and it is an emphatic statement that I make as Minister of National Defense.”

And he added: “To the Central General Staff in the southwest, persecution, increase in the capabilities of the public force, attack them with all those capabilities. For her part, the mayor of Jamundí, Paola Castillo, in addition to rejecting the terrorist act and highlighting the support of the institutions, emphasized the need to combat the recruitment of minors who end up in the ranks of armed groups.
