Agreement signed for the conservation of the Cañaverales spring

For the director of CorpoGuajira, this agreement is key because it involves the protection of one of the most strategic ecosystems of the Department.

The highest environmental authority in La Guajira and Cerrejon, in order to strengthen through environmental activities the recovery and conservation of the ecosystem services of the protective forest reserve Canaverals Springsigned an agreement with the Vigías Environmentales – Guardianes del Manantial foundation.

The agreement includes the development of training workshops on environmental education, induction into the regulations of protected areas, control and monitoring, conservation and management of native species, management and protection of fauna, prevention of forest fires, and project formulation.

Likewise, control and surveillance activities will be implemented in the Regional Protected Area to make monthly tours and collect sufficient and necessary information to execute biodiversity inventories.

Likewise, monitoring will be carried out and events such as fires, hunting, damage caused by cattle and deforestation will be reported to the environmental authority, in order to alert the environmental authority of the risk so that corrective measures can be taken.
