Sextets from Puerto Aysén, Coyhaique and Puerto Cisnes competed in women and men for the Livopa.
Last weekend the municipal gymnasium of Coyhaique was transformed into a true regional volleyball festival with the dispute of the last date of the Patagonian Volleyball League (Livopa), an event that brings together the best teams from the communes of Cisnes , Aysén and Coyhaique.
Daniel Hernández is the coordinator of the competition, which was created in 2017, was repeated in 2019 and after the pandemic could only be held this year. “The first two versions were only for women and in the third version the men’s category was added. There are a total of 18 participating teams,” said Hernández.
The Coyhaican clubs Patagonia, Austral, Fogliatto, Adelvol, Colegio Mater Dei and Austral Sub 18 competed in the Ladies competition; the Aysen teams Eva, Aiken and Lioness and the Cisnense teams of Arturo Prat.
In the Men’s category, eight clubs registered, the Coyhaicans of Academia de Vòleibol Pumas, Coyhaique Volei, Adelvol and Baguales, Undécima Volei of Coyhaique and Aysén), the Cisnenses of Arturo Prat and the Ayseninos of Eros and Asovoay.
The league is not federated and is self-financing through registrations from participating clubs.
The development of the league was carried out in a competition where the teams played all against all. The ladies played a total of six rounds and the men played five rounds.
The organization of the league also considered the participation of referees from the Chubut Volleyball Federation with referees Alejandro Díaz and Alejandro Miguel, in addition to the participation of referees from the region Juan Soto and Dagoberto Espinoza.
“The objective of the league is to give competition to all the existing teams in the region. A large part of the teams have players still in school, that is why every competitor plays in the category,” said Daniel Hernández and added that the league is projected to be held next year with the possible participation of Argentine teams from Comodoro Rivadavia and Sarmiento.

In the dispute of the champions, the first four classified in the general table played for the Gold Cup and the remaining four played for the Silver Cup.
In the Women’s Gold Cup, the winners were the Aiken club, second was Adelvol and third place went to Austral Sub 18, while in the Men’s Gold Cup, first place went to Academia Vóleibol Pumas, second was Undécima Volei and third was Coyhaique Volei.
In the Women’s Silver Cup, first place went to Lioness, second was Patagonia and third was Eva, while in the Men’s Silver Cup first place went to Eros, second was Adelvol and third was Arturo Prat.
In the individual awards, Josefina Peña distinguished herself as best point guard, best receiving point 1 was Fernanda Cárdenas, best receiving point 2 was Sofia Poblete, best center back 1 was María José Martínez, best center back 2 was Maite Pestana, best opposite number was Carol Valderas, best Libero was Francisca Fierro, best MVP player was Deisy Aguilar and Florencia Hernando was chosen as the projection player.
In the men’s competition, the best point guard was awarded to Cristobal Atton, the best receiver point 1 was Brajean Saavedra, the best receiver point 2 was Diego Águila, the best center back 1 was Víctor Hitschfeldt, the best center back 2 was Dagoberto Espinoza, the best opposite was Diego Vásquez, the best libero was Daniel Arriagada, the best MVP player was Daniel Hernández and the projection player was Benjamín Jofré.
