The water is going out in Cartagena! They close the aqueduct system throughout the city

The Aguas de Cartagena company announced the closure of the aqueduct system due to the forced seizure of the Dolores Raw Water Pumping Station.

According to the entity, since midday a group of protesters has been at the site protesting the poor condition of the road that connects the towns of Lomas de Matunilla, Puerto Badel and Rocha with Cartagena.

These people intimidated the station operators and forced them to turn off the raw water pumping, which is why the company made the decision to close the aqueduct system.

“Given the impossibility of transporting raw water for the purification process at the El Cerro and El Bosque plants, the storage levels of drinking water in the city have reached critical levels. This condition prevents the company from continuing to distribute the precious liquid, affecting the water supply to more than 360 thousand users in Cartagena,” said Acuacar.

Aguas de Cartagena warned that this situation creates a health emergency in the city, as it also affects educational institutions, clinics, hospitals, prisons, commercial establishments and industry.
