After the first hours of investigation for the important fire recorded this Wednesday morning in the deposit from Zapata Goma, in the Mendoza City, details are beginning to be known that could be key. There is a 65-year-old woman who is arrested for the incident, who was identified by witnesses and from whom the Police seized flammable items.

The suspect is a homeless woman who, according to investigators, would have some psychiatric problems. According to the statements collected when the firefighters were fighting the flames, minutes before the incident, after 8:30, this person was observed lighting a fire at the door of the depositon Vicente Zapata Street.

With this information, the Police proceeded to arrest her, since she continued to prowl the area. During their search, her officers found two lighters, a can with the smell of fuel, virulana, and a purse with cosmetics.

With this evidence, the uniformed officers delayed her and placed her at the disposal of Justice. The case is being investigated by the Non-Specialized Crimes prosecutor Martín Lucero, who must now define her situation and whether she is charged or not.

In relation to this, the representative of the Public Ministry has a period of up to 48 hours to formally accuse her and establish, in principle, if this woman is the author of the fire and if he did it intentionally.

The operation

Beyond all this, researchers also have to evaluate her from a psychiatric perspective, since they suspect that she could have mental disorders.

Meanwhile, on Wednesday afternoon, firefighters from different teams in Greater Mendoza continued with their cooling work in the deposit. At some point there was even concern as the fire flared up momentarily, although it was controlled minutes later. Preventively and briefly, traffic was cut off again.

The damage to the affected structure would be total. In any case, tests will be carried out to confirm this and finish specifying the origin of the fire.
