These efforts have not only been directed at strengthening political relations, but particularly at achieving commercial and financial exchanges and the development of economic possibilities that make it possible to face the difficult situation that the country and its population are going through, he noted.

The report highlighted the isolation of the United States in its hostile policy towards Cuba when, for the thirty-first time, the resolution presented to the United Nations by the island against the US blockade was adopted.

This text received, once again, the support of the overwhelming majority of the international community, and was adopted by 187 votes in favor, two against (the United States and Israel) and one abstention (Ukraine).

Regarding this aspect, he identified the policy of hostility and maximum pressure of the United States as the main factor influencing Cuba’s difficult economic situation.

Our government denounced this interventionist and illegal policy emphatically and consistently. Various actors in the United States, including some in Congress, identified this policy as the main cause of the increase in migratory flows from Cuba, the document noted.

He affirmed that the inconsistency of keeping Cuba on the List of State Sponsors of Terrorism was directly conveyed to Joe Biden’s government, despite the rejection by a growing number of international and also American actors, among which the letter from 21 congressmen demanding the elimination of the largest of the Antilles from that list.

The Cuban government reiterated its willingness and willingness to move towards a more constructive and respectful relationship with the United States, without prejudice to sovereignty and independence, he emphasized.

Regarding Cuba’s ties with Latin America and the Caribbean, the text states that these were based on the defense of the principles of non-interference in the internal affairs of States and the Proclamation of Latin America and the Caribbean as a Zone of Peace. , which in January 2024 celebrated its tenth anniversary.

In the report, which describes Cuba’s links with the rest of the world, it was highlighted that the island played an active role in multilateral forums, with emphasis on defending the interests, priorities and needs of developing countries, as well as in support of just causes, of which he is a permanent and unconditional defender.

He pointed out that support for the Palestinian cause and the fight for a more just and equitable democratic world order, based on International Law and the sovereign equality of States, are examples of this.
