Havana, June 12 (ACN) Bruno Rodríguez ParrillaMinister of Foreign Affairs of Cuba, today thanked the statement and position of the Russian Federation regarding the inclusion of the Island in the United States (US) unilateral list of countries that sponsor terrorism.

From his account on

“Chancellor of #Russia, Sergei Lavrov, demanded today in a Press Conference the removal of #Cuba from the spurious list of States that supposedly sponsor terrorism. We appreciate the statement and the position maintained by this sister nation.”

During the official talks of both foreign ministers, which took place today in the Eurasian nation, Lavrov described this policy as an absolute anomaly because Washington itself resorts to methods of blatant terror.

Also on the day, Rodríguez Parrilla thanked the governments of Laos and Grenada for expressing their rejection of the inclusion of the largest of the Antilles in this list and demanding its immediate elimination.

“We thank the Government of #Granada for the recent statement from its Foreign Ministry, which calls for the immediate exclusion of Cuba from the list of States that allegedly sponsor terrorism. #NoToTerrorism”

The statement issued by the Lao Foreign Ministry also emphasized the need to put an end to the economic, commercial and financial bloc that the US Government has maintained against Cuba for more than 60 years.

“The Government of #Laos, through its Foreign Ministry, has reiterated its call to end the US blockade against #Cuba and to eliminate our country from the spurious list of State sponsors of terrorism. “We appreciate this new statement of support for our just cause.”

On May 15, 2024, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken published the State Department’s annual list of states that supposedly “do not fully cooperate” with the counterterrorism efforts of the northern nation’s government.

Cuba was not included in this list. A State Department official cited the resumption of police cooperation between Cuba and the United States as one of the reasons the previous designation was deemed “no longer appropriate.”

A large number of world governments have since expressed more strongly their demand that Cuba be excluded from the other list of state sponsors of terrorism, to which it was added unjustly and arbitrarily, since this inclusion has served as a pretext for the northern nation to apply sanctions that aggravate the impact of the blockade already imposed.
