“The government intends to change that and go to a demand subsidy schemethat is, identifying users who have a vulnerable socioeconomic condition and assisting them so that they can pay for an energy basket that allows a minimum level of decent living,” he highlighted.
“The subsidy is not going to be removed but rather reduced and redirected towards those who really need it,” said Oehler, and specified that the characterization parameters of all users, whether N1, N2 or N3, are defined.
He pointed out that “every person who receives an electricity bill regardless of whether it is in their name or not, in the upper left part a legend appears that indicates the segment N1, N2, N3 (already categorized) or without segment (those that were not registered), depending on the income of the cohabiting family group.”
Oheler stressed that “the N1 means higher income, N2 means income less than two Minimum Vital Mobile Wages (SMVM) and the N3 for average income ranging from 700 thousand to 2 and a half million pesos” and added that “after a declaration sworn, the system assigns a category and that allows access, or not, to a subsidy amount, although it has not been defined, as of yet, how that subsidy will be delivered to the user.”
“Until now the government’s idea is that through a transfer system, each user is assisted so that they themselves pay the bill,” he clarified, and said that in the case of Jujuy “We have, within residential users, 2,500 users segmented as N1, 125 thousand users as N2 and about 25 thousand as N3”.
“In the case of the N2 there is a group that did register and others are those that were incorporated by the provincial state as beneficiaries of the social rate,” and added that “that is why users are being recommended to register and declare their economic condition.”
How to sign up
All EJESA users who have not registered in the RASE, whether or not they have a social tariff, must register to have the possibility of accessing or maintaining the national subsidy for the price of energy, otherwise in the next bills they will pay the cost of unsubsidized energy.
