The Department that planted the most cotton area is Fontana, with 43,000 hectares, and where about 18,000 hectares have been harvested. In second place was the Fray Justo Santa María de Oro Department with 32,000 hectares, although the harvest recently reached 12,000 hectares and the third district with the most planting was the Independencia district with 19,000 hectares of which only 6,000 hectares were harvested.
Then follow the Departments 12 de Octubre with 18,000 hectares and where 13,000 were already harvested and on April 2 with 17,500 and where 8,000 hectares were harvested.
The producers’ report
The producers who are part of the Agroperfiles group reported the cotton harvest percentages in different parts of the province. In La Tigra, Ernesto Ivan points out that these days 30% is harvested and with great losses. Aldo Kizur, from Villa Angela, says that he started the harvest of the last batch.
“The previous two, one weighed 1,100 kilos on average and the other weighed 770 kilos on average, and this one looks better, let’s see how we turn out, it looks a little better,” he commented.
Lucas Vicentin, from Pampa del Infierno, said that the harvest is 70% complete. At best, it yields 500 kilos and at best, 1,200 kilos per hectare.
