Comprehensive Regimen for the Treatment of Children with Oncological Diseases

With the accession to the National Law of the Comprehensive Regime for the Treatment of Children with Oncological Diseases, Jujuy is committed to implementing the National Comprehensive Care Program for Children and Adolescents with Cancer. This program has several key features, such as:

  • Maintain the Argentine Hospital Oncopediatric Registry (ROHA).
  • Disseminate strategies for the early diagnosis of childhood cancer.
  • Manage the network of cancer centers nationwide.
  • Create guides for detection, diagnosis and treatment.
  • Ensure quality care and rights of cancer patients.
  • Train health teams through cancer training scholarships.
  • Perform follow-up and post-treatment care.

The rights of children and adolescents with cancer include receiving the best possible care, preferably on an outpatient basis, being accompanied by their families, receiving understandable information about their illness and treatment, and accessing individualized care with the same doctor.

They also have the right to informed consent, psychological support, education, and pain treatment and palliative care. Full coverage of these benefits must be guaranteed by the public health system, social works and prepaid medicine companies, without requiring additional payments from patients.
