Patagonian provinces coordinate actions against dengue

The health ministers of Neuquén, La Pampa, Río Negro, Santa Cruz, Chubut, Tierra del Fuego and the South Atlantic Islands met to advance joint strategies.

The provinces of Neuquén, Río Negro and La Pampa coordinate actions against the problem of dengue. A Patagonian meeting brought together the highest health officials.

The invitation arose as an initiative of the Minister of Health, Martín Regueiro and had the participation of his peers from Santa Cruz, Tierra del Fuego, Río Negro, Chubut, La Pampa and the Secretary of Administrative Coordination of the National Ministry of Health, Cecilia Loccisano .

“We are working together because we understand that La Pampa, Neuquén and Río Negro are going to be the buffer for the rest of dengue throughout Patagonia, that is why the actions are joint. A Patagonian campaign is going to start, with the logic of stopping it sooner,” Regueiro said.

The meeting made it possible to put on the agenda other topics related to the problems of mental health, human resources, financing lines, infrastructure and equipment.

The minister added that “as it is a Patagonian meeting, common themes arise from supply, digital prescription, medications, mental health, dengue, accessibility, medical history. Issues that confront us as southern provinces and that present us with a scenario to work together in this logic of Patagonian provinces with epidemiological characteristics different from the north of the country,” he remarked.

“The most important thing is that people can access health and provide a community response,” concluded Regueiro.

In the first meeting, the formation of technical tables with specific work groups was already planned to address priority issues, share information and evaluate the evolutionary level of each province in those points, and see how to move forward together, even thinking about the purchase of supplies.

“We are here accompanying in our stewardship role and helping to coordinate policies and impact at the national level,” said Loccisano, representing the Minister of Health of the Nation, Mario Russo.

The Minister of Health of La Pampa, Kohan Mario, was present; the Minister of Health of Río Negro, Ana Senesipor; the Minister of Health of Santa Cruz, Ariel Varela; the Minister of Health of Chubut, Sergio Wisky; and the Minister of Health of Tierra del Fuego and South Atlantic Islands, Judit Di Gigliopor.
