A unit of doctors moved this Wednesday from Cali to Armenia to perform the heart extraction surgery and later take it to the capital of Valle del Cauca to transplant it to the other minor.

“We found my son’s true purpose, to serve God and others,” said Leonardo Montoya, the minor’s father.

Luis Esteban Montoya became the first heart donor in Quindío. And although his parents wanted to donate other organs, they could not do so because in recent days, the minor had dengue, according to Montoya.

Although he remained hospitalized for several days, his condition worsened and he died this Tuesday.

lThe funeral services will be this Thursday afternoon where his family, friends and his educational community of the Higher Normal School of Armenia will say goodbye to the minor.
