Unter defined a strike for this Friday in Río Negro in rejection of the salary proposal presented on Wednesday by the Río Negro government in joint ventures. But after this measure was made known, the Ministry of Labor issued a resolution and targeted the union.
From the Ministry of Labor they issued a statement requesting the Unter union to “refrain from carrying out a total stoppage of activities” which was scheduled for Friday. In this sense, they pointed out that “any direct action measure must be communicated 48 hours in advance,” in order to formalize conciliation instances and assured that the requirements “They were not fulfilled by the union organization.”
«Regulatory Decree No. 302/18 requires that the notification of direct action measures contains specific details about them, something that UNTER has not presented, which could lead to the declaration of illegality of the strike and the application of sanctions,” they detailed in the letter issued. Likewise, the Ministry of Labor reported that they decided to inform the union to suspend the measures announced for June 14, “under warning of declaring its illegality and applying the pertinent sanctions, including the initiation of an administrative summary of fines in accordance with Law No. 5255.
Same resolution too encourages Unter to “act with good faith and predisposition” to achieve a solution and “contribute to social peace. According to what they reported, the notification was sent to both Unter and the Ministry of Education so that the regulations are complied with.
For their part, Education stated: «Given the unilateral decision of the Unter union to carry out an education strike, without respecting the deadlines necessary for the implementation of direct action measuresa, we express our strongest rejection of this action “which seriously harms the educational communities of the province of Río Negro.”
They pointed out that They consider that this measure “negatively impacts” the educational sector: “This interruption affects the right to education of our children and young people, generating irreparable harm.”
Unter strike in Río Negro: they demand urgent parity
On Thursday, Unter defined a strike for this Friday in Río Negro in rejection of the provincial government’s salary proposal.
