In the midst of the complex situation with the availability of medicines in the country, the agility with which existing volumes reach pharmacies and health institutions is vital.

Knowing this, the 96 workers of the Santiago de Cuba Transportation Base Business Unit (UEB), one of the 25 of its kind that are part of the Drug Marketing and Distribution Company (ENCOMED), put the extra effort into their work. belonging to Biocubafarma and responsible for making such deliveries to all the eastern provinces of the nation.

The combination of these issues led to the Santiago UEB achieving the National Distinguished status granted by the Public Health Workers Union at the country level.

According to Pablo Chaveco Riverí, general secretary of the union section, among the results of 2023, the fulfillment of the planned transportation plans stands out, with overtime dedicated to emergency missions in the transfer of medicines, vaccines or reagents, voluntary work dedicated to food production, and the materialization of many other administrative and union missions.

The delivery of the National Distinguished Status to the UEB Transporte ENCOMED Santiago de Cuba took place this Thursday, in the Art Room of the Emilio Bacardí museum, and it was an opportune moment for the workers to ratify the commitment to sustain the results that earned them such high marks. stimulus.

Present on the occasion were Yanet Pérez, member of the provincial secretariat of the Cuban Workers’ Union (CTC), Dr. C. Yudixa Sarmiento Rodicio, general secretary of the Provincial Union of Health Workers, Emilio Ortuño Almaguer, director of the aforementioned UEB, directors of ENCOMED and a large representation of the labor group.
