The Guantánamo – Holguín train will restore service this Saturday the 15th, after solving problems with the availability of locomotives and passenger cars, the lack of which caused trips to be suspended for approximately a year.

The news was given by the Minister of Transportation Eduardo Rodríguez Dávila through a post on his Facebook profile, where he explains that the service will be provided with the current formation of the Guantánamo – Santiago de Cuba university train.

It is a medium-sized locomotive and five cars with an approximate capacity of 300 passengers that will circulate on Wednesdays and Saturdays, leaving the Guantánamo railway station at 6:00 am and returning from Holguín, the same day at 3:00 am: 30 pm.

The route will link the provinces of Guantánamo, Santiago de Cuba and Holguín by the Guantánamo Line to the San Luis Combinado, by the Central Line to Cacocum and finally by the Holguín Branch to the main municipality, and will have 28 regulatory stops.

Regarding prices and each of the stops according to the itinerary, the Minister said that he will soon offer information on these issues, as well as about the opinions of the population and the effort to launch this train.

He stated that this is an agile and effective response from the Cuban Railway Union that will contribute to alleviating the transportation situation as we approach the beginning of summer.
