Digital transformation is – according to the Policy recently approved by the Council of Ministers – an evolutionary process and a new paradigm associated with the substantive use of digital technologies in all aspects of society.

“It is not a disruptive element, but rather it consolidates the computerization of society that we have been promoting for years,” said Mayra Arevich Marín, Minister of Communications, in the television program Mesa Redonda.

From the organization, he said, eight strategic axes related to the regulatory framework will be coordinated; technological infrastructure, connectivity and digital access; the economy; education and culture; digital government; the innovation; cybersecurity, and digital content.

In the words of Armando Rodríguez Batista, vice minister of Citma, “it has the mission of promoting an ecosystem that boosts innovation, while consolidating a network of research centers, ministries and entities around digital transformation that is very beneficial to the country.”

Regarding the Digital Agenda, Arevich Marín meant that it will be developed and updated as practice and society itself demand; while, with the Artificial Intelligence Strategy, the ways in which the country will develop and take advantage of it are articulated early.
