The town of El Carmelo, in the municipality of Cajibío (Cauca), was the scene of a violent attack against the Police substation. The attack began with intense rifle bursts, generating an atmosphere of panic and tension among the inhabitants of the township. The community, already affected by the power outage, was forced to seek refuge in their homes, remaining in complete darkness to avoid being victims of violence.

The Public Force, aware of the seriousness of the situation, acted immediately. The troops of the Army’s 29th Brigade, in coordination with the National Police, began offensive maneuvers to confront the armed group responsible for the attack, identified as the Jaime Martínez residual organized armed group.

The Third Division of the Army issued a statement detailing the actions undertaken: “our troops from the 29th Brigade of the Army begin offensive maneuvers to support our brothers in the Police, who are fighting against the residual organized armed group Jaime Martínez in the rural area of ​​Cajibío , Cauca. “The operational deployment is reinforced with air support from the Air Force to safeguard the integrity of the members of the Public Force and the community.”
