Secondary students participated in an educational visit

CIAT and the Thaaui Archaeological Interpretation Center received students from the Dr. Alejandro Heredia Business School and the León Foundation. The objective was to strengthen knowledge about recycling and the ancestral culture of the city.

“There are 30 4th and 5th year students who visited the Museum and CIAT where they brought plastic and cardboard. The idea is for them to learn about the municipal recycling process. From the León Foundation we supported the school five years ago with a financial scholarship for the children to finish high school. For us, pedagogical support is important, with educational outings and workshops,” said Jonathan Gutiérrez, coordinator of the ‘Future Graduates’ program.

The Thaaui Archaeological Interpretation Center It is the reflection of the history of finds produced in Tafí Viejo. Located in the Atahualpa Yupanqui Hotel, it contains around 60 pieces found in archaeological finds and donated by neighbors that invite reflection on the origins of humanity, evolution, ways of life, identity and beliefs.

The Environmental and Technological Interpretation Center (CIAT) is made up of a Dry Urban Waste Separation and Classification Plant, a Used Vegetable Oil Treatment Plant, an Industrial Compost Plant, a Green Classroom for educational visits and a Garden. In addition, part of the materials received and produced are sent to the Municipal Ecoproductive Complex (CEM) for the construction of sheets, ecological blocks and wooden furniture.

“Going out, listening and seeing gives us input on what we learn at school. I knew about the Hotel but I never took the tour of the Museum, it is very impressive to know what the history was like. At CIAT we learned how to separate and that the things we have can be transformed into others,” said Sofía Sánchez, a 4th year student.
