Time is rushing for the future pension reform in Santa Fe

Less than 24 hours after the law was passed creating the pension reform commission, the Executive Branch of Santa Fe enacted law No. 14268 and published it this Friday in the Official Gazette. “The idea is to establish the commission next Wednesday,” said a legislative spokesperson.

The commission will be chaired by Rodrigo Borla, president of the Constitutional Affairs Commission of the Senate, supported by Pablo Farías, head of the similar commission in Deputies. The Senate has already defined and voted on its six members, while in the Deputies the eight places will be ad referendum for the next session. In addition to Borla, Esteban Motta (San Martín), Oscar Dolzani (San Javier), Hugo Rasetto (Iriondo), Alcides Calvo (Castellanos), Raúl Gramajo (9 de Julio) and Rubén Pirola (Las Colonias) will be seated in the Senate.

The Executive Branch has four chairs and another four chairs are for representatives of state unions “guaranteeing the representation of the different sectors and activities of the provincial public sector,” the norm states. It is clarified that sectors and activities that are not part of the Commission may designate an assistant, who will be authorized to participate in the meetings scheduled by the commission.

The commission will have 45 days to carry out the study, preparation and writing of a report regarding the sustainability of the pension regime in force in the province of Santa Fe. The president of the Commission may extend the validity period for 45 days.

Teachers, central administration and security today are the sectors with the largest number of beneficiaries of the pension system and those with the greatest weight when it comes to contributors.
