Confirming his great moment and confirming that he is one of the best time trialists in the country, the cyclist cundinamarqués Rodrigo Contreras was imposed this Friday in the prologue that began the Return to Colombia and, incidentally, he gave notice of his ambition to achieve another conquest this season.

Could it be that in the 74th edition of the national round the reign of Team Medellín will end, which dominated the competition in the last three years thanks to the triumphs of José Tito Hernández, Fabio Duarte and Miguel Angel Lopez?

For now, in Macanal, Boyacá, where a new chapter of the prestigious competition that has been held uninterruptedly since 1951 began, Contreras gave a signal of his condition and aspiration by winning the 7.4 kilometer route with a time of 15 minutes and 50 seconds.

The Cundinamarca native, who represents the NU Colombia team, led by Raúl Mesa, surprises this year. He conquered the Tour Colombia, the Vuelta a Tolima and the Anapoima Classic.

In Macanal he showed great superiority over his other rivals, especially in the final meters, with ramps of up to 18 percent maximum slope.

Those who escorted him on this day were Diego Andrés Camargo from Boyacá (Petrolike), at 40 seconds, and the Cundinamarca Wilson Peña (Team Sistecrédito), third, at 42”.

Julián Cardona, from Team Medellín, was the best Antioquian, tenth, at 1.14.

This Saturday, in the first group stage dispute, the runners will challenge a 151.4 kilometer route between Guateque and Chivatá, in Boyacá.
