Tensions remain in northern Cauca due to harassment by FARC dissidents in different municipalities.
The attacks by the Central General Staff have generated anxiety among the community of this region, which has been denouncing the violent acts through social networks.
In the town of El Carmelo, rural area of Cajibío, attacks against the police station were reported.
According to social leaders in the area, the attack by groups outside the Law occurred at night, leaving the population without electricity, while they heard rifle bursts and some detonations until air support from the authorities arrived. .
The authorities reported that the attack lasted approximately two hours, during which rifle shots and the launching of improvised explosive devices were recorded, but they failed to affect the structure of the police station.
On the other hand, in the urban area of the municipality of Suárez, the Police Station was also attacked, as well as the military unit that guards the La Salvajina dam.
The commander of the Police in Cauca, Colonel Guiovany Torres Bautista said that “fortunately there were no injuries or victims among the personnel of our institution that works in these municipalities, this was thanks to the reaction of the units that later came in to support “if these attacks are confirmed.”

Near the Prosecutor’s Office of the municipality of Santander de Quilichao, in the middle of a public road, a grenade was located that was detonated under control by the authorities.
An abandoned cylinder was later found nearby.
Colonel Giovanni Torres, commander of the Cauca Police, blamed the Jaime Martínez column of the ‘Iván Mordisco’ dissidents for these harassments.
On the other hand, President Gustavo Petro wrote in his X account that “with these fronts there is neither dialogue nor ceasefire. In-depth fighting is taking place in the Micay canyon and that is why they want to dilute the Government’s offensive on this objective with bombs in other places.”
Likewise, the president, in statements to European media, stated that it is not Colombia that has security problems but rather a region.
The president affirmed that the suspension of peace talks with the Central General Staff was a political decision because while they were talking they continued cheating, selling drugs and killing social leaders.
Furthermore, he indicated that the use of drones by illegal groups is not a challenge for the State, indicating that they can be shot down.
