Casanare judges ask the president of the Supreme Court for judicial autonomy and more resources

The president of the Supreme Court of Justice, Gerson Chaverra Castro, visited Yopal and listened to the needs of local judges and magistrates.

Three requests stood out: improve digital connectivity, create sections of judicial administration and the Judicial Council, and increase staff.

The digital divide worries Casanareño judicial officials. Chaverra recognized that the lack of good connectivity affects the efficiency of the justice service, a common reality in areas far from the center of the country.

The desire to become independent of the Judicial District of Tunja was another central point. The judges argue that having their own sections would allow them to better manage resources and attend to the daily needs of the offices more quickly.

Work overload was also evident. The increase in judicial demand requires more courts, especially in the civil, criminal and family areas. Despite the creation of new offices, the current staff cannot cope.
Chaverra also mentioned the judicial reform that the Government is preparing. The objective is to reduce impunity and streamline processes, guaranteeing real access to justice for all citizens.

Local authorities trust that the president of the Court will take these concerns to Bogotá and advocate for concrete solutions. The visit made the urgency clear: Casanare needs a more autonomous, better connected and more robust justice system.
