Local authorities asked for more support from the Government to stop the wave of violence in the region.

The mayor of Cúcuta, Jorge Acevedo, made anew call to the National Government, warning that this year there have been 129 homicides in the capital of Norte de Santander.

In dialogue withRCN Radiothe official pointed out thatMore than 25 criminal gangs are present in the city,such as ‘El Tren de Aragua’, the ‘Ak-47’, the FARC and ELN dissidents, among other illegal groups.

Acevedo indicated that in the last few hours a metropolitan government council was held, in which the Vice Minister of Defense, Daniela Gómez Rivas, participated, to address the security situation in that region.

“We are left with some conclusions, with some important tasks on the part of the Ministry, as well as the municipal administration and the Government of Norte de Santander. One of the commitments issupport the strengthening of the capabilities of the Public Force, to be able to deliver better resultsin security,” he said.

Another point that was addressed was that Cúcuta has become a migration center,since more than 220,000 Venezuelan migrants have arrived in the cityin search of better living conditions.

Mayor Jorge Acevedo called on the Government to create strategies to mitigate not only the violence in the capital of Norte de Santander, butthe regulation of entry and stay of foreigners in the city.

Added to this situation is that two criminal gang bosses who are detained in prisons,They would be the coordinators of the wave of violence in Cúcuta.

Is aboutEvert Carreño Corredor, alias ‘Porras’ and Jayson Pabón Garavito, alias ‘Pepino’,both with homicide records and who would be part of opposing sides in the city.

According to information,alias Porras would have built alliances with hitmen from more than 18 criminal groupsfrom La Picota prison, in order to put an end to his enemy.

For its part,alias Pepino would be committing crimes with the FARC dissidents.
