Escuela y Café opens the doors to the training of rural youth from Cundinamarca

In Viota The School and Coffee project was relaunched, an opportunity for the rural youth of Cundinamarca promote the economy of their regions.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development gave new impetus to the project School and Cafewith the support of the Ministry of Education, the Coffee Growers Committee of the department and local actors such as municipal mayors, rectors and teachers of schools in the territories where it is developed, in the search to promote opportunities for rural youth and generate development in the region.

According to the Secretary of Agriculture and Rural Development, Marcos Barreto García, the project seeks to offer a education relevant to the most productive economic activity that develops in each territory, in this case coffee.

“Young people have the opportunity to study with the experiences in your environment and achieve, with love and passion, to stay in their territories working and training new generations, with knowledge and skills in the sector,” he noted.

The relaunch of the educational model took place at the IED Bajo Palmar, in municipality of Viotawhere students demonstrated how they are learning and applying advanced coffee production techniques and the coffee production projects implemented were visualized.

Students and teachers from Viotá and other municipalities such as Pacho, San Juan de Río Seco, La Palma, Vergara, Tibacuy, La Mesa and La Vega, They shared their experiences and expectations, creating an environment of learning, motivation and collaboration.

The day was accompanied by the Caldas Coffee Growers Committee, an expert in the implementation of this educational model both nationally and internationally.
