This third Sunday of June, the date on which the Island celebrates Father’s Dayit seems that it will have better energy behavior than in the Cuban Mothers festivities, which occurred on the second Sunday in May.

For that May daythe Electric Company’s forecast was for an availability of 2,510 MW and a maximum demand of 3,100 MW during peak hours, which translates into a deficit of 590 MW, with an estimated impact of 660 MW.

However, for the day on which parents are officially celebrated on the calendar, the availability of the National Electroenergy System (SEN) at 07:00 hours was 2,410 MWwhile the demand was calculated at 2,240 MW, this with the entire system with service, so the electrical authorities do not estimate effects for the midday schedule.

But this information, rather than causing joy among the population, motivated comments of distrust.

“Thank goodness they are going to have a soft day on Parents’ Day, surely tomorrow they will come with new vigor,” said one of the users ironically in the comments section.

One user noted: “Today is Father’s Day, tomorrow will be Mother’s Day,” warning of possible consequences to this sudden improvement in blackouts.

“Thank goodness that today we will be relieved for Parents’ Day, I mean if another problem does not arise, tomorrow we will pay for what we are going to enjoy today, you will see, I like to make mistakes and I recognize it when it happens to me,” added another Internet user.

The note shared on Facebook by the Electrical Union mentions that Unit 2 of the Santa Cruz Thermoelectric Power Plant (CTE), unit 5 of the Diez de Octubre CTE, unit 6 of the Rente CTE and unit 2 of the Felton CTE are in breakdown..

While, Unit 1 of the CTE Santa Cruz and unit 5 of the CTE Rente are under maintenance..

They add that around 24 distributed generation plants are out of service due to lack of fuel, representing 98 MW affected by this situation.

For the peak hour, the Distributed Generation engines that are awaiting maintenance must enter and its use is authorized with 115 MW, they add in their publication.

They also estimate the entry of unit 5 of the CTE Diez de Octubre with 60 MW, unit 5 of the CTE Rente with 75 MW and two engines from the Mariel lake with 34 MW.

Finally, they point out that For the peak hour, an availability of 2,694 MW and a maximum demand of 2,950 MW are estimated, for a deficit of 256 MW.so if the expected conditions continue, an impact of 326 MW is forecast during this time.

This Saturdaythe maximum impact on the day was 847 MW at noon.
