The ex-president Álvaro Uribe Vélez spoke out regarding the controversial approval of the pension reform in the House of Representatives that took place last Friday in Congress.

Uribe stated, through X, that “The Government bankrupts the economy of the rich and with unsustainable subsidies administers that of the poor to condemn them to hunger.”

The former senator also published a statement in which he began by saying: “Castro’s advice to Chávez was clear, he told him: finish the economy of the rich and manage that of the poor, but first win the elections, campaign against corruption and inequality.”

The former president also highlighted that In the country the economy of the “rich” has already weakened and announced that Subsidies for the poor will run out of money in a few years.

In this sense he also pointed out that “The rules have changed in many sectors of the economy, such is the case of energy mining.. The Government’s lack of commitment to lead the communities has caused long-standing renewable energy projects to fail. “It will be difficult for them to trust Colombia again.”

Uribe exemplified the above with what happened in Venezuela since, according to the former president, “the Venezuelan people did not realize the Chavista damage until very late. While the government was spending on subsidies for imported goods, a high percentage of the $60 billion in oil exports was spent bringing in imported, subsidized goods.”

Finally, the statement pointed out that the current neo-Marxism is broken and therefore it is necessary to have “clarity and determination to lower taxes and give confidence to private companies” to stabilize the economy and allow investment in the country.

The pension reform was approved The last friday in the House of Representatives after it was put to the vote a proposal to accept without further detail what was approved in the Senate.

Representatives of the Democratic Centerof which Uribe is the natural leader, announced that they will present a unconstitutionality lawsuit before the Constitutional Court.
