Parliamentarian expressed his concern about the figures delivered this week by the Central Bank, pointing out that they should call for deep reflection

Valparaíso.- Senator David Sandoval expressed his concern after the figures delivered this Monday by the Central Bank, which indicate that Aysén was the only region in the country that presented a negative GDP, falling 9.7% in the first quarter.
“In practice it means that there were no large investments, many sources of work are not generating the employability that is required or that person or service that hired five or six people has had to reduce the number of workers,” he lamented.
In that sense, he said that this is “very bad news for Aysén,” considering that it is the only region in Chile “that is showing a decrease.”
Sandoval also emphasized that these are not political figures but are data provided by an autonomous entity such as the Central Bank and for this reason he considers it necessary to call on all actors in the region to evaluate what is happening. . “It is an issue that affects us because it means less growth, that there are no investments, that the projected investments are not being executed. It is a matter of seeing the investments in the southern highway, public works in general, where many of these tenders have practically had to be declared void,” he stressed.
Faced with this scenario, the legislator called to think “what is happening with the Aysén region?” Why is it the only region in Chile that is not experiencing growth?”, insisting that the figures should call for “everyone to reflect, since it is the entire region that is being affected.”
Finally, the parliamentarian reiterated that “we must define what the Aysén region wants to do in terms of development and how we are capable of providing all the tools so that the different activities we have can move forward, since this means investment, economic activity and I work for the people.”
