Mayor Macarena Ripamonti reported that the 53 establishments in Viña del Mar will return to normal classes this Monday, June 17. Both schools and high schools do not report major damage after important improvements and investment made in the infrastructure of the educational facilities.

All municipal schools in Viña del Mar will return to classes this Monday normally, after the frontal system that affected several regions of the country during the week.

It is worth remembering that classes were suspended in the 53 establishments of the Viña del Mar Municipal Corporation (CMVM) this June 13 and 14, after a Yellow Alert was declared in the commune.

After the emergency, the Ministry of Education announced that supporters could request, exceptionally and with recovery, the suspension of classes in establishments affected by the climate front.

In the case of Viña del Mar, no such request was made, since although there were minor damages to six schools, these were less serious and were already resolved by the Corporation’s municipal teams.

The mayor of Viña del Mar, Macarena Ripamonti, highlighted the fact that “in less than three years we achieved an investment in public schools of nearly $9,000 million; Of 53 educational establishments we managed to preserve more than 40 and 100% of the establishments had resources to be able to carry out the corresponding maintenance.”

The community leader stated that putting public education first has been a priority for the Municipality: “This has the direct consequence that during the rains classes do not have to be suspended in Viña del Mar and do not affect food, education and the protection of more than 13,500 students in the city of Viña del Mar,” he pointed out.

INVESTMENT IN INFRASTRUCTURE

The municipal schools of Viña del Mar have received a significant investment in infrastructure of more than $9,213 million during the administration of the mayor, Macarena Ripamonti. This has meant that more than 40 educational establishments have been renovated through conversation projects, with the aim of guaranteeing the right to education for the students of Viña del Mar.
