The governor of the province of Buenos Aires, Axel Kicillofasked this Sunday that all detainees are released on Wednesday within the framework of the protests against the Base Lawwhich led to serious incidents in the vicinity of Congress.

“We demand the immediate freedom for the prisoners for demonstrating against the Bases Law,” the Buenos Aires president published in X.

On Friday, after concluding the investigations that had begun on Thursday, Judge María Servini resolved the situation of the 33 detained for the incidents on Wednesday in the vicinity of Congress. He ordered 16 people to be imprisonedand accepted requests for the release of 17 others.

The people who regained their freedom benefited from the criteria adopted by the magistrate, who assessed that the first evidence gathered in the case was insufficient: there were no films or photos available that directly linked them to the destruction.

Regarding those who remain detained, the judge has not yet responded to the request of prosecutor Stornelli, who had requested preventive detention for everyone after accusing them of various and serious crimes.

Kicillof posted regarding the 69th anniversary of the bombing of Plaza de Mayo, which – as he wrote – “sought to overthrow the democratically elected president, Juan Domingo Perón.”

In this context, he took the opportunity to criticize the arrests of the strong security operation, led by Minister Patricia Bullrich, and asked to take care of the democratic system, leaving aside violent acts.

“One of the most atrocious events in our history. Democracy must be cared for and strengthened so that hate and violence never again take over politics in our country.

Federal prosecutor Carlos Stornelli argued that the 33 detained by the federal and City police forces could be investigated for crimes against public powers and the constitutional order, aggravated attack against authority, damages, incitement to collective violence, public intimidation and disturbance of order in parliamentary sessions, among others.

Meanwhile, the day after the protests and incidents, Bullrich spoke of a “modern coup d’état” and asked the Justice Department to charge the detainees with sedition and the Ministry of Security presented itself as a plaintiff in the case.

The portfolio headed by the former presidential candidate will denounce the damage suffered to its equipment, without prejudice to the injuries to the forces of the forces, which are already the subject of investigation by the prosecutor Carlos Stornelli, who also accuses the perpetrators of a long series of crimes. , such as attacks and resistance to authority, public intimidation, attacks against the constitutional order, havoc, among others.

“We are going to ask the Justice Department to be charged with sedition. The President spoke of a coup d’état, which is the logic of the erosion of governability. I waste, I don’t let a government function and with that I turn it around. It is the concept of a coup d’état and that is why we are going to use the figure of sedition,” Bullrich stated before the press.

In addition, the Security portfolio sent Prosecutor Stornelli the costs of the operations carried out by each of the Federal Police and Security Forces, which ensure $13,613,500 that the Federal Police reported in damages to their vehicles and equipment.
