The Argentine women’s beach volleyball team could not beat Paraguay. They lost 3-1 to the local team in the final series of the South American Olympic Qualifier that was played at the Los Pynandi World Cup Stadium, Asunción, Paraguay.

The tournament had begun this Saturday for Argentina, which easily won the first three games against Ecuador in the semifinals. In the first match Gallay/Churín beat Stephany/Jasmin 2-0 (21-12 and 21-9), then Peralta/Ghigliazza 2-1 against Ariana/Karelys (17-21, 21-12 and 15-5). To close the series Gallay/Churín had also defeated Ariana/Karelys 2-0 (25-23 and 21-8).

Sunday began with a defeat for the Peralta/Ghigliazza duo against the Paraguayans Polleti/Michele (21-17 and 21-19) who also beat Gallay/Churín in the third game by 2-0 (22-20 and 21-17 ). Gallay/Churín had temporarily tied the series by beating Erika/Fio 21-10 and 21-16. In the fourth game of the day, Argentina’s pair 2 had to win to force the Golden Set. Peralta/Ghigliazza started on top in the first set and in the second they had several match points but could not close it and fell 31-29 to Erika/Fio. In the tie-break the Paraguayan duo had more rest and won the match and the Olympic qualification by 15-10.
