$50 billion for primary health care in Magdalena

The Ministry of Health and Social Protection announced a significant allocation of resources that reaches more than half a billion pesos for the acquisition of basic health equipment in different regions of the country. Among the beneficiaries is the department of Magdalena, in an effort to strengthen health infrastructure and improve medical care in the region.

The investment, for more than 513 billion pesos, to the State Social Enterprises (ESE) to strengthen Primary Health Care, through the financing, formation and operation of Basic Health Teams, through Resolution 865, 1032, 1033 and 1034 of 2024, seeks to provide health centers with the necessary instruments and equipment to guarantee optimal and quality medical care for the Colombian population.

The department of Magdalena, recognized for its cultural diversity and natural beauty, is among the areas benefiting from this important initiative. This allocation of resources will strengthen the local health network and improve access to quality medical services for its inhabitants.

Among the benefited departments and districts are also: Antioquia, Arauca, Meta, Vichada, Nariño, Caldas, Cundinamarca, Valle del Cauca, Cauca, Tolima, Nariño, Casanare, Norte de Santander, Santander, Cesar, Bolívar, Quindío, Caquetá , Risaralda, Boyacá, La Guajira and the Districts of Santa Marta, San Andrés, Santiago de Cali and Buenaventura.

The resources will be directed to each of the ESCOs and it will be up to them to hire human talent organized in multidisciplinary teams, motivated, sufficient and qualified, in response to the barriers identified in the operation of the General Social Security System in Health -SGSSS-. in pursuit of moving towards a health system with the capacity to respond to address and ensure health care for individuals, families and communities, under a differential, population and territorial approach.

The Basic Health Teams are made up of nursing assistants and professionals, doctors, psychologists and others, who will reach every corner of the country, guaranteeing the right to health of Colombians, through actions of health promotion, prevention of the disease and interventions that respond to the health needs of the most remote communities in the country.
