Fear in Caldono, Cauca, due to fighting between the Army and FARC dissidents

The indigenous communities were left in the middle of the fighting.

Residents of the El Crucero del Rosario village of the Siberian District, municipality of Caldono, Cauca, are fearful after the heavy fighting that took place in the early hours of the morning of this Sunday, June 16.

According to the same community, the clashes began when an Army commando was attacked by dissidents from the Dagoberto Ramos front of the FARC.

“Very scary because those machine gun shootings happened in the middle of the homes, fortunately it was a holiday because those gunshots even reached a place where the children of the community are cared for,” said indigenous leaders who asked to remain anonymous.

According to the information, at first there were confrontations between illegals but later the confrontation turned into harassment of the public force that arrived to control the area.

According to the public force, the fighting between illegal groups occurs for territorial control of the area and thus be able to maintain drug trafficking routes.

The National Army, for its part, announces a strong offensive to cause the departure of these armed groups.
