The rains will begin this Monday afternoon and will impact the regions of Valparaíso, Metropolitana (where the capital is located), O’Higgins, Maule, Ñuble and Biobío.

Added to this is a cold front that will move quickly and cause snowfall in sectors of the mountain range.

Educational authorities announced the suspension of classes for today and tomorrow in at least 10 communes of Biobío, the area most devastated by the weather phenomena.

The previous week, a storm caused one death, three injuries and more than 11,000 victims in the south-central part of the country.

The overflowing rivers and floods left more than seven thousand people isolated, destroyed about 10 homes, caused major damage to another 600 and minor damage to 5,940, according to a report published here.

The rains also caused damage to agriculture and, according to the director of the Agricultural Development Institute, Santiago Rojas, the distribution of 30 tons of concentrated food for animals has already begun.

Payment of the Basic Emergency Token is scheduled for this Tuesday, which is delivered to households depending on the members of the nucleus, their characteristics and the damage suffered.
