Before driving, check if the last digit of your vehicle’s license plate is among those affected by Pico y Placa this Monday, June 17 in Medellín. Remember that if you drive during restricted hoursthey can immobilize your vehicle and also impose a fine on you.

The vehicle restriction varies depending on the day of the week, the time, the type of car and the finish of its license plate, according to the Medellín Mobility Secretariat.

The Pico y Placa of Medellín aims to improve traffic and mobility of citizens. Here is the schedule of restrictions for this June 17, according to the Medellín government.

Motorcycles: 5 and 8.

Individuals: 5 and 8.

Taxi: 8.

Freight transport: Does not apply.

The hours of this vehicle restriction are from Monday to Friday and begin at 5:00 a.m. in the morning and end until 8:00 p.m. at night.

The vehicle restriction program, popularly known as Pico y Placa, is implemented by the Medellín Mobility Secretariat and changes every six months.

The application of this program depends on the day of the week, as well as the last digit of the car license plate.

Currently the rotation for private vehicles is as follows, according to the last number on the license plate.

Monday: 5 and 8.

Tuesday: 1 and 4.

Wednesday: 2 and 0.

Thursday: 3 and 6.

Friday: 7 and 9.

For two- and four-stroke motorcycles, tricycles, tricycles and mopeds, this program will apply with the first digit of the license plate.

For its part, the vehicle restriction will be maintained for Taxis according to the agreement with the union on the biweekly rotation methodology, varying the day of the week per month, taking into account only business days and continuing the sequence that has been in place since 2016.

It is important to mention that in this city the vehicle restriction applies only to private cars, taxis and motorcycles.

Several vehicles may not be affected by the vehicle restriction program, according to Medellín authorities.

These are electric, hybrid and natural gas cars that have an updated traffic license.

It is important to mention that motorists will not have to request written authorization again for the exemption since the Ministry of Mobility has a connection with the Single Traffic Registry (RUNT).

Drivers who violate the Pico y Placa program will be subject to a financial penalty.

The current fine, according to the Mayor’s Office of Medellín, is equivalent to 15 minimum wages in force, in addition, the car will be immobilized.
