The authorities supply drinking water to communities affected by the drought with tanker trucks that travel to different communities carrying the vital liquid.

Since Friday, the Municipal Government of San Miguel de Velasco and the Authority for Inspection and Social Control of Forests and Land (ABT) have been moving tankers and this Sunday the Government sent one to supply the District of San Antonio de Lomerío, one of the more beaten.

The residents of the area point out that they have managed to supply themselves with the vital liquid, but water is still lacking, so they are asking for the urgent creation of wells.

On Friday, a tanker truck arrived in the Lomerío District and supplied the communities of San Pedro de Capacho, Santa Anita and Santa Rosita.

“We have filled our gallons, but what we receive is not enough for so much need,” said Yerlin Pedraza, a resident of San Pedro de Capacho.

Water wells

The Government of Santa Cruz reported that this Sunday it sent a tanker truck with 15,000 liters of drinking water, as well as equipment to enable 12 wells affected by lack of maintenance in the District of Lomerío, in the municipality of San Miguel de Velasco.

Carlos Góngora, director of the Government’s Water Resources Service, reported that the tanker truck will supply the vital liquid to approximately 2,000 people who live in that area.

He explained that the tanker truck will carry water from the town of San Miguel de Velasco to the five communities in that district severely affected by the prolonged drought. “Up to three daily trips will be made to supply the population,” Góngora highlighted.

He announced that in the coming days they will deploy specialized personnel with heavy machinery to carry out maintenance and rehabilitation of 12 water wells, which are silted. They are also analyzing opening new wells.

Assembly member Keila García was present when the tanker was sent, highlighting the efforts they are making to address this emergency.
