The new Metrotranvía duos
The process had its delays because, after the pandemic, the Siemens factory in Sacramento (California) began to delay deliveries. “We brought 12 pairsthere are 39. Others will arrive in December and we are going to analyze what pace is given to the entry of pairs in 2025. We want to have 15 pairs and they will be added to the 8 that are working,” Vilches highlighted.
He general plan is that there are 12 units in activity and 12 in rest, which will improve the frequencies and, likewise, the useful life of the machines, since they will not have as much wear. “Currently the frequency is 12 minutes, when it is fully operational with the route to Luján it will be lowered in sections to 4 or 5 minutes,” he said.
At the moment, around 400 thousand passengers use the Metrotranvía monthly. Projections indicate that, when the expansion of the system is completed, that number will multiply. In 2027, meanwhile, the expansion of the route should be completed.
