The Economic Observatory reported that 69% of businesses recorded drops in units sold, compared to last year. 25% of businesses recorded an increase in units sold. The remaining 6% stated that they sold the same number of units as last year.

“These dates they give us a drop of 11.5%on average, in the units sold compared to Father’s Day 2023,” explained the merchants’ study center in the work report.

Almost 7 out of 10 businesses (68.8%) recorded Saturday the 15th as the day with the highest sales, followed by Friday the 14th (12.5%), added the report from the capital’s chamber of merchants.

Purchase ticket

50% of the businesses responded that the average ticket was above $30,000. 37.5% responded that it was in a range between $20,000 and $30,000. The remaining 12.5% recorded an average ticket between $15,000 and $20,000.

“The average purchase ticket, according to the data collected, would have been $31,000 on Father’s Day 2024,” estimated the Economic Observatory.

“This means that the average purchase value would have increased, according to our estimates, almost 160% between 2024 and 2023,” he said.

Carding purchases

62.5% of businesses revealed that the credit card was the most used means of payment by buyers of gifts for parents in the provincial capital.

In second place, as the most used means of payment, were digital and electronic means. What gift buyers used the least were bills and debit cards.

That is, most of the purchases were made with credit to people who went into debt to fulfill the gift to their parents.

Bad and very bad sales

Among the opinions of merchants about the performance of their sales in particular, negative responses prevailed, revealed the Economic Observatory.
