The Special Jurisdiction for Peace and the Search Unit for Missing Persons carry out a new intervention in the central cemetery of the city ofCucutawhere at least211bodiesof people who would be victims offorced disappearancein the country.

This is the fifth intervention this year, where forensic entities have managed to identify at least4,000 mortal remainsof which 211 bodies are of forensic interest and the remaining are people who have no relation to the precautionary measure.

Miguel Castellanos, secretary of government of the city of Cúcuta, assured that they aresix sites of interest that have been released in the central cemeteryand this intervention will last until June 30.

“The process is advancing, there are already six sites that have been freed from this precautionary measure, there are already 4 thousand identified bodies, the vast majority of them are remains that are part of that administrative disorder in the cemetery, which has affected us” said the municipal official.

The secretary of the government of Cúcuta confirmed that the JEP extended the precautionary measure for another year, which will allow it to continue carrying out interventions to find the total number of people declared missing in the context of the armed conflict in the department.

This judicial process that has been carried out within the framework of the Regional Search Plan for Cúcuta, its metropolitan area and border area by the Missing Persons Search Unit and the precautionary measures adopted by the non-recognition section in 2021 .
