In the last few hours, the National Emergency Alert and Monitoring System (SINAME) issued a report regarding the provinces that are under alert due to danger of fires.Among them is the province of Jujuy.
Jujuy under fire alert: when and where
SINAME reported that due to the possibility of strong winds in some sectors of the country, fire danger conditions increased in several provinces. Among them are: Jujuy, Salta, Tucumán, Santiago del Estero, Catamarca, Chaco, Formosa, La Rioja, San Juan, Santa Fe, Corrientes, and Misiones.
In this sense, fire danger conditions were announced between June 14 and 18.
Forest fires
The north wind increases the risk of forest fires in Jujuy.
Fire danger: what it means
As detailed by the National Emergency Alert and Monitoring System, in the marked area the danger of fires will increase during the first days of the announced time. High temperatures, low levels of humidity and intense winds predominating from the North sector are expected for these sectors.
For this reason, pertinent monitoring and care is requested, since these conditions could remain at high values, particularly the availability of fine fuel.
Where to report forest fires in Jujuy
If you see a column of smoke, fire or a sign of fire, immediately call 911, 100, 103 or 4271971. It is important to do so quickly so that specialized professionals can extinguish it as soon as possible.
How to avoid forest fires
To prevent forest fires in Jujuy, the following recommendations can be followed:
- Do not throw lit cigarette butts, matches or broken bottles, as they can be a means of generating fire due to the intensity of the sun.
- Avoid lighting bonfires, as a simple bonfire can turn into a large fire.
- Take precautions when lighting a fire or carrying out a controlled burn, requesting the corresponding authorization.
- Be aware that the wildfire season can be more complicated due to the great drought, north wind and heat.
