Guilds of the Valley demand urgent measures from the Government against insecurity

The 34 unions, seven chambers of commerce and more than twelve thousand companies affiliated with the Interunion and Business Committee of Valle del Cauca (CIEV) have supported the call of Governor Dilian Francisca Toro to demand more effective measures against crime that affects security in the department.

For her part, Claudia Calero, president of Asocaña and the CIEV Board of Directors, highlighted that Valle del Cauca requires “deeper attention to control insecurity and criminal groups.”

In this context, Calero emphasized:

“We are supporting the Government of the Valley and the department as a whole, requesting the National Government to focus its attention on our region. We need an audience with the President because the insecurity in this area cannot be normalized. We require the arrival of security , justice and the reactivation of the productive apparatus.”

On the other hand, Juan Manuel Sanclemente, executive director of the CIEV, highlighted the need for support from the National Government in terms of budget and capabilities.

“We recognize that the Government and all mayors are making a considerable effort to confront violence and insecurity, but there are limitations in local capacities. These limitations must be addressed with the support of the National Government,”

Sanclemente assured.

Also, María Isabel Ulloa, executive director of Propacífico, stressed the importance of the collaboration of all sectors in solving regional security problems.

He emphasized that we must first recognize the importance of working together. Since the private sector has been involved in crime prevention for several years.

This collective call from the businessmen of Valle del Cauca puts first the urgency of addressing insecurity with coordinated actions and the decisive support of the National Government.
