He Party for Democracy (PPD) stated that “they are not closed to any scenario” in the face of a possible presidential race of the Minister Carolina Tohá, after appearing as one of the main figures of the ruling party for the 2025 elections.
The presidential race is already gaining strength, both in the ruling party and in the opposition. And although the two political figures who are best positioned in the polls are from the right, names have already begun to be heard in the ruling party that could join the fight for the seat of La Moneda.
According to the latest version of Cadem’s Plaza Pública survey, the current Minister of the Interior – and these days Vice President of the Republic -, Carolina Tohá, would prevail in a hypothetical primary election of the center-left.
In this regard, the Secretary General of the PPD, José Toro, He stated that in the party they do not close themselves to any scenario.
According to the Cadem survey, in a possible second round, Matthei shows a 7-point advantage over former president Michelle Bachelet, with 49% of the preferences compared to 42%.
The one who ranked second among the presidential leaders of the ruling party was the Minister Spokesperson of the Government, Camila Vallejo, who -during this day- stated that the Ministers of State “are worried about continuing to govern.”
However, he stated that the names that have emerged in the latest surveys show that there are leaders on the center-left.
Although the sector has stated that the presidential discussion will be analyzed after the municipal elections in October, internally the parties have already begun to evaluate how to face the presidential race.
Above all, in those communities that have leaders who are -currently- carrying out work in the Government.
