The Municipal Sports Directorate of San Luis Potosí announced that next July one of the most important cycling races, the “Mexico Gravel 2024” will arrive in the state to receive competitors at the national and international level.
The organizers commented that in this competition there are no cash prizes, but rather the passionate participants of this modality that is barely popular at the national level, participate to win a personalized bottle of Potosino mezcal Júramein the case of first place and for second places for craft beers of the same brand.
This sporting event has been held in Mexico for five years, the first edition of which took place in the capital of Potosí, which positioned itself and grew over time, going from 19 competitors to just over 100 per edition.
The cycling competition will arrive in the capital on July 6, with a 240-kilometer route, where mountain and road cycling will be combined, since the 100 participants contemplated will travel through the Altiplano of Potosí, on road and in the mountains, passing through places sacred of Wirikuta in the desert.
The departure will be from San Luis Potosí capital, until reaching the finish line in the Refugio de Coronados community, near Wadley Station, in the municipality of Fourteenwhose first three places will receive a proudly potosino prize from Mezcal Júrame, to continue with the personal introspection for crossing the sacred route.
This sporting event will be much freer, since those who participate will be self-supporting, that is, managing and supplying their resources alone, as well as each person will be able to make their own route, since it will not be physically marked, but rather through navigation. GPS.
However, the organizers will place hydration and technical assistance points at kilometers 170 and 180 for those who require support, in addition to having a list of stores established along the route to buy water to constantly hydrate.
