The mayor of Catriel insists with the claim for oil contracts

The mayor of Catriel deepens the claim to the provincial government for oil contracts. She once again resorted to citizen support to make visible the demand to Governor Alberto Weretilneck to grant him participation in the extension agreements for hydrocarbon exploitation. The project of the provincial Executive Branch has already been presented in the Legislature.

Days ago, community leader Daniela Salzotto led a symbolic act at the southern entrance to the city with a massive caravan. «This symbolic hug is in defense of our rights. Catriel is the northern gateway to Patagonia, the capital of oil and energy. “We are not going to give up those rights and we will fight against whoever is necessary.” said the Peronist.

He also mentioned the state of National Route 151, increasingly punished by the lack of works by the Nation.

«If the governor does not understand it, the people of Catriel will let him know. Companies must pay what they owe, because they pollute us and only cover up the oiled land without solving the problem,” he said.

The mayor also addressed the lack of adequate medical care in the city, highlighting that patients must travel more than 300 km to receive complex treatments. «They contaminate our air and soil, and we do not receive the health care we need. Living in Catriel is a daily challenge that few understand,” he said.

The mayor also called on union leaders and the entire community to join in this fight. «If the extension comes, many will be left without work. Everyone must join this cause. “Catriel does not stop and is fighting,” she concluded.

On Wednesday the city’s 122nd anniversary
and they await the presence of provincial authorities.
