In Argentina they affirm that the Trans-Andean Government will remove the Chilean panels “in the next few hours”

Press reports from Argentina state that the Government of Javier Milei will announce that “in the next few hours” it will remove the solar panels from a trans-Andean military base installed in Chilean territory in Tierra del Fuego.

According to Infobae, official sources confirmed that the decision will be announced this Monday after a series of communications from Foreign Minister Diana Mondino and the Minister of Defense, Luis Petri.

These conversations, adds the aforementioned portal, “were finalized after Argentina’s delays in providing clarification on the deadline for removing the structures.”

The Argentine Government’s idea, Infobae points out, is to remove the panels on Tuesday although everything “will depend on the weather.”

This occurs after President Gabriel Boric, who is making an official visit to France, indicated that the neighboring country must remove the panels from national territory. If not, he asserted, “we are going to do it.”

“We learned some time ago that Argentina, when installing a military base in the Patagonia region, installed solar panels in Chilean territory. We received an apology from the Argentine Foreign Ministry, but I would like to tell you very clearly that borders are not something that can be ambiguous,” said the Chilean president.

“It is a basic principle of respect between countries and, therefore, they must remove these solar panels as soon as possible or we are going to do it,” he pointed out.

“I mentioned it to President (Javier) Milei, he told me that he was going to send it to his Minister of Foreign Affairs. I imagine that we are not going to have problems in this regard… What we demand is that this be resolved in the shortest possible time. And I insist, if not, we are going to do it,” he said.

It was on April 29 when the Argentine Navy inaugurated the “Maritime Transit Surveillance and Control Post Milestone 1” near the border with Chile.

The problem arose because some solar panels were installed three meters inside national soil, which generated discomfort in the Chilean Government.
