“We are going to have an entire work plan to promote tourism of a different quality, that is more ecological and contemplates beaches so that people come to rest more than anything. The community will provide us with guidance in this process to make investments in education, health, road connectivity and public services that will keep this site among the eight best rural beaches in the world,” he declared.

Meanwhile, Lady OspinaSecretary of Departmental Drinking Water and Basic Sanitation, explained that an investment of $60 billion to bring drinking water to Punta Astilleros and the rest of the coastal zone territories that are needed for service coverage.
“We have two alternatives to provide drinking water coverage to the populations of the coastal zone that are needed for the service such as Punta Astillero, Bocatocino and El Cerrito. Firstly, the idea is to work to connect the northern aqueduct to the coastal aqueduct, which would imply the construction of a pumping station to redistribute water to these towns. Also, we evaluate the option of desalinating the water for some 120 homes because the community has asked us to, but we have to do some analysis because the users would have to pay for the operation, so we hope to evaluate all the possibilities and make the decision that most benefits the municipality,” he said.
