The Local Police of Logroño have reported a person who was surprised while doing graffiti on a private property on Sagasta Street, on the wall of a ford, last Saturday, June 15, at 1:15 p.m. Once identified, the agents confiscated the paint cans and he was reported based on the Coexistence Ordinance of the Logroño City Council, which in these cases contemplates a penalty of 200 euros, plus the settlement of the cost of cleaning it, which Environment will carry it out, but the perpetrator of the acts must pay.

As recalled by the Local Police, the action of the graffiti artists represents a significant deterioration of the city and constitutes a high cost for the public coffers in terms of replacement, repair and cleaning of the damage caused by graffiti. These types of events are denounced as very serious in the aforementioned ordinance.

So far in 2024, the Local Police have carried out 24 actions related to graffiti and graffiti. The increase in the incidence of this problem in the city motivated the launch of a campaign by the City Council aimed at sanctioning people who carry out this type of vandalism.

To carry out this campaign, the Local Police assigns both uniformed and plainclothes agents in different work shifts to locate and report these people. The Local Police requests citizen collaboration to detect and eradicate this problem, notifying 092 when this type of vandalism is detected that, without any type of artistic concern, spoils public heritage and degrades the city’s environment.
